Crafting Engineering Solutions
for Every Home

Hyve Designs specialises in providing expert engineering solutions tailored to the residential sector. We collaborate closely with homeowners, developers, and architects, offering seamless support through every phase of the project, from initial design to final execution.

Whether for new builds, renovations, or rectification works, we prioritise safe, compliant, and cost-effective outcomes. With a collaborative approach and deep knowledge of council and regulatory requirements, we help bring residential visions to life on time and with confidence.

Kameruka Road, Northbridge

Hyve Designs was responsible for several key tasks in stormwater works and driveway design for the new development at Kameruka Road, Northbridge. This included ensuring compliance with council standards, creating driveway long sections, cross falls, vehicle profile clearances, and producing construction standard drawings in accordance with Willoughby City Council’s pre-lodgement notes.

Our stormwater drainage design involved specifying water tanks and creating standard construction drawings. For the flood study, we modelled and mapped existing and proposed flood extents, depths, velocities, and hazard categories, refined the council’s Sailor Bay Creek Flood Study based on site surveys, and conducted an impact assessment of the proposed development in line with Willoughby City Council’s Technical Standard 3.

Picketts Valley Road, Picketts Valley

Hyve Designs was engaged as the consulting engineer for the Stormwater and Structural Design at Picketts Valley Road, Picketts Valley. The scope of work includes stormwater drainage design, meeting Central Coast Council’s retention target, specifying a water tank, producing DA standard drawings, and preparing a Water Cycle Management Plan (WCMP) in accordance with council DCP requirements.

Additionally, we were responsible for redesigning retaining wall foundations, ensuring footings are located within rock rather than on top. Our services also include reviewing four retaining wall designs, marking up PDF drawings, designing a new pile footing system to extend piers past the existing swimming pool, designing a new pile cap to bridge between the retaining wall and pier, and reviewing the reinforcement in the blockwork wall.

Botany Road, Waterloo

Hyve Designs played a crucial role in shaping the vision for the boutique apartment block at Botany Road, Waterloo. Our contribution spanned from conceptualisation to executing an in-depth impact assessment, particularly addressing the implications of the Metro tunnel intersecting the property.

The development comprises two interconnected buildings, unified by a shared single-level basement, topped with a four-story mixed-use structure meticulously designed to comply with council-regulated height restrictions. While predominantly residential, the project also boasts ground-floor retail spaces, adding vibrancy to the locale. Noteworthy is the sophisticated shoring system, incorporating sheet piles, anchors, and reinforced concrete walls, ensuring both excavation safety and structural stability.

Pennsylvania Road, Riverwood

Working with St. George Community Housing, Hyve Designs played a pivotal role in shaping the initial concept and conducting independent verification for two apartment blocks. Moreover, we spearheaded the development of a Specialist Engineering Assessment (SEA) to meticulously analyze the implications of erecting two 4-storey concrete residential buildings adjacent to existing 1500mm diameter trunk mains at ground level.

Nicholson Parade, Cronulla

Hyve Designs was engaged to deliver structural engineering for a bespoke multi-level luxury residence on a steep coastal site in Cronulla. The design featured cantilevered balconies and open-plan living areas, requiring careful structural integration with architectural intent. Our scope included reinforced concrete floorplates, transfer slabs, and detailed steel framing to support expansive spans and minimal internal columns.

We also addressed site-specific challenges including deep excavation, groundwater management, and salt-exposed conditions. The result is a highly resolved structural system that enables a premium architectural finish and enduring coastal performance.

Grosvenor Road, Lindfield

Hyve Designs provided structural engineering for a high-end residential dwelling in Lindfield, integrating contemporary design with durable, low-maintenance construction. The home features open-span living areas, basement-level parking, and architectural concrete finishes. Our structural solution combined reinforced concrete slabs with steel-framed roof elements to accommodate large openings, minimal columns, and complex façade geometry.

We also addressed soil reactivity and stormwater detention requirements in a constrained suburban site. The final structure delivers both performance and flexibility, enabling a refined architectural outcome that supports long-term family living.

Minnamurra Road, Northbridge

Hyve Designs was engaged to provide structural engineering for the renovation of a four-level private residence on a steep hillside site in Northbridge. The project involved extensive reconfiguration of the existing structure to support new floor levels, a passenger lift, and cantilevered outdoor spaces, all while working within tight spatial and access constraints. Our team designed new reinforced concrete and steel elements to integrate with retained structure, enabling open-plan living areas and modernised circulation.

Significant site challenges included complex foundation detailing, temporary works for staged construction, and coordination with the builder for safe execution on a heavily sloped lot.
