Parks for People, Beaumont Hills

The Parks for People project represents a pivotal initiative within a prominent NSW Government program dedicated to enhancing access to green spaces and augmenting the tree canopy across Greater Sydney. Esteemed for its commitment to design excellence and innovation, the project prioritises the integration of landscape design, cultural sensitivity, and ecological considerations.

Hyve Designs played a pivotal role in this award-winning project, contributing expertise in the design of civil and structural elements within the park, as well as crafting bespoke steel structures tailored to meet the unique landscaping requirements of the site.

2025 AILA NSW Award of Excellence for Play Spaces

Narellan Sports Hub Stage 2

The Narellan Sports Hub Stage 2 project aims to enhance the existing sports hub, providing top-notch community and sports amenities to support the growing Camden Local Government Area.

Hyve Designs played a crucial role in this development, contributing to the design of three road bridges, pedestrian bridges, and various civil structures. Our work included designing retaining walls, light poles, water infrastructure, bleachers, culverts, and pavement hardstands.

Stations, Systems, Operations, Trains and Maintenance

Hyve Designs was engaged by SMEC to deliver concept and tender-phase structural design for key packages within SSTOM contracts. Our role covered multiple precincts, including Australia Business Park, Aerotropolis, and Orchard Hills.

Working within a high-stakes bid environment, we developed and evaluated varied structural design options. This includes rail slab alignments and drainage strategies, reinforced collision walls and containment barriers, platform layouts and precast configurations, and station floors and concourse slab systems. Our approach focused on constructability, modularity, and integration with architectural and services packages.

Yarramumun Creek Bridge, Shoalhaven

The Yalwal Road, Yalwal Bridge Replacement initiative, spearheaded by the Shoalhaven City Council, entailed the substitution of the antiquated timber bridge on Yalwal Rd spanning Yarramunmun Creek with a modern twin-span, single-lane concrete bridge. This endeavor received financial support from both the Council and TfNSW through the NSW Fixing Country Bridges program.

Notably, the project encompassed comprehensive tasks such as road pavement construction, installation of steel crash barriers, and strategic signage placement. Hyve Designs played a pivotal role by conceptualizing three design alternatives, advancing two to the tender stage for pricing.

Bayside Playgrounds

Hyve Designs was tasked with the production of construction drawings for the proposed play parks at five different locations for Bayside Council.

Our responsibilities encompassed the intricate design of footings and slabs to support the future play equipment, alongside seamless coordination with play equipment and shade structure manufacturers.

Kemps Creek Sewer Lead-In

The Sewer Lead-In at Kemps Creek encompassed the installation of a 2.2km sewer line primarily utilizing DN450 pipes. Furthermore, a micro-tunnel underbore was incorporated into the project plan.

Hyve Designs undertook the structural design responsibilities for the horizontal underbore and the construction of manholes along the Penrith Sewerage route, spanning from St. Marys through East St. Clair Carrier.

Great Western Highway, River Road Emu Plains

The project encompassed the expansion and enhancement of the Great Western Highway, River Road in Emu Plains. Tasks ranged from adjusting pavement depth to coordinating the deployment of construction equipment.

Hyve Designs played a pivotal role in calculating pipe stresses and employing models for comprehensive analysis. The findings underscored the imperative need to realign or replace Vitrified Clay (VC) pipes to maintain structural integrity.

Mamre Road Stage 1 Upgrade

Hyve Designs was engaged to deliver a Specialist Engineering Assessment (SEA) for the Mamre Road Stage 1 Upgrade, extending from the M4 Motorway to James Erskine Drive. The assessment focused on protecting Sydney Water assets by evaluating allowable construction loads, pipe stress, and exclusion zones throughout construction and final implementation.

In addition, Hyve supported design coordination for the ESR PW Lead-in utilities, ensuring these works were fully integrated within the broader infrastructure upgrade.

Sydney Water

Hyve Designs has played an integral role in civil structural design projects spanning various locations in conjunction with Sydney Water, encompassing Redfern, Milperra, Hamilton, Pagewood, Metro, M5, Henry Lawson, Pemulwuy, Kemps Creek, and Great Western Highway.

Our contributions extended to optimizing maintenance holes, devising innovative pit designs, performing thorough impact assessments, scrutinizing pipe stress factors, and executing comprehensive pipe rehabilitation initiatives.

Merimbula Airport

Hyve Designs was engaged to provide full engineering services for the terminal redevelopment at Merimbula Airport, supporting the upgrade of this key regional transport hub. Our scope included civil, structural, and hydraulic design for the new terminal buildings, associated car parking, access roads, and landside infrastructure.

Working closely with the client, architect, and local council, our design responded to the complexities of regional airport delivery, specifically wind and soil conditions, public interface requirements, and integration with existing facilities.

Sunshine Coast Airport

As part of expansion works at Sunshine Coast Airport, Hyve Designs provided a Specialist Engineering Assessment (SEA) to review the interaction between construction activity and nearby water and utility infrastructure. Our scope included assessing pipe loading conditions, construction tolerances, and exclusion zone compliance. The SEA delivered practical, risk-managed solutions to enable works to proceed safely around critical assets, supporting both contractor delivery and regulatory assurance.

Meriton Public Domain

Hyve Designs provided structural and civil design services for the public domain works outside the Meriton development on Talavera Road.

Our scope included pavement, stair, ramp, and retaining wall design, along with on-site inspections to ensure compliance, accessibility, and integration with the surrounding streetscape.

Smithfield Laboratories

Hyve Designs provided structural engineering for the Smithfield Laboratories project, a specialised industrial facility combining laboratory space, office fitout, and high-performance service zones. The structure was designed to support heavy mechanical plant, suspended pipework, and vibration-sensitive equipment, requiring careful slab detailing and load coordination.

Our team developed a steel-framed solution with concrete floor plates and integrated service zones, allowing flexibility for future fitout changes. Coordination with hydraulic and HVAC services was critical to maintain ceiling zones and floor penetrations within strict tolerances. The result is a robust, adaptable facility tailored for advanced technical operations.

City of Sydney

Hyve Designs has played a pivotal role in shaping Sydney’s landscape through its involvement in the design and construction of numerous prominent sites. Our diverse portfolio showcases our experience with the City of Sydney and expertise in pile designs, reinforced earth walls, shoring, anchoring, and gravity work.

Additionally, Hyve Designs has made significant contributions to various infrastructure projects, establishing itself as a respected player in the industry.

Turrella Station Upgrade

The Turrella Station Upgrade, part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program, aims to enhance the public transport experience with accessible, modern, and secure infrastructure. Scheduled for completion in 2024, the upgrade features a new station entrance, lifts, extended canopies, accessible toilets, kiss-and-ride facilities, improved pathways, a relocated pedestrian crossing, platform enhancements, modifications to street infrastructure, bike hoops, improved lighting, CCTV, landscaping, and updated wayfinding.

In addition, Hyve Designs was responsible for conducting a condition survey of the pipes and performing a design check of the Sydney Water asset and existing thrust blocks.
